Prudential Hall
Bare Soundzwith Marshall Davis, Jr. and Maurice Chestnut
Don’t miss this latest evening of dance invention from Newark’s own Tony-winning tap master. Glover’s Bare Soundz is an exuberant celebration of tap dance to sound – and sound to dance. Exposing tap as song, Glover will merge acoustical vibrations into a mosaic that conjures jazz, Caribbean beats, and other contemporary musical genres. With this concert-style production, which also features up-and-coming young hoofers Marshall Davis Jr. and NJ-born Maurice Chestnut, Glover will transform tap dance into an acoustical instrument – tap as percussion, sound and song.
Prior to tonight’s performance, ticket-holders are invited to join us for a free Prelude in the Prudential Hall lobby featuring award-winning jazz, soul and R&B singer-songwriter
Ty Stephens. Tonight’s Prelude will also feature a Crafts Fair that will showcase a variety of tri-state area artists. The Crafts Fair will open one hour prior to the scheduled performance, and will remain open half an hour after the end of the performance
