Jayson Williams back in court
judge overseeing Jayson Williams's retrial is allowing defense lawyers today to review documents regarding the racial slur uttered by an officer investigating the 2002 shooting death of the former Nets' limousine driver. Before a packed Somerville courtroom, State Superior Court Judge Edward M. Coleman ordered prosecutors to surrender the personnel file of an officer who admitted using the epithet during a meeting at the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's office. The judge reviewed the documents in his chambers and was later joined by prosecutors and defense lawyers.
