BLACK AUGUST PEACE UNION FORMED

CALL FOR MASSIVE DAY OF OUTRAGE On Wednesday, August 29

the Black August Anti-street Violence Coalition will host
what it hopes to be Newark's largest anti-street violence
march and rally.

Participants will assemble at Newark City Hall, 920 Broad
Street, from 10am to 12 noon. At noon, they will rally on
City Hall steps and then march to the Essex County Hall
of Records.

Seeking to galvanize community outrage at the stubborn
persistence of Black and Latino youth homicide, most
especially in the wake of the tragic killing of the three
Ivy Hill-based college students, hoping to forge broad,
united community-based responses and action, this coalition
includes a who's who in Newark community organizing and
leadership. Among the leaders and organizations participating
are Lawrence Hamm and the Peoples Organization for Progress,
The Street Warriors, Enough Is Enough, Rev. Joe Carter-New
Hope Baptist Church, Ras Baraka, Min. Lawrence Muhammad-Mosque
No. 25, Rev. Ron Christian-Christian Love Baptist Church,
Morticians That Care, Donna Jackson-Taking Back Our Streets,
Saving Our Selves, Brick City GM Krew/East Coast Bad Boyz, Stop
Shooting, Mothers of Murdered Sons and Daughters (Momsad),
Salaam Ishmael-United Youth Organization, Rev. Conrad Tillery-Abyssinian Baptist
Church,Harlem, Dhoruba Bin Wahad and the New
Black Panther Party.

The list of participants and endorsers is growing everyday.
It is time we got our people together in the streets by the
thousands, said Bashir Akinyele of the New Black Panther
Party and principal coordinator of the event. We want 10,000
serious, concerned and committed people to come out for
this. We want all the mothers, fathers, grandparents, youth
groups, sets, teachers, workers, clergy, everybody wanting to
change this genocidal condition to come and stand together.
Our youth, our babies, our only future, deserve this,he
finished. The Black August Anti-Street Violence Coalition is
a united effort initiated by the Newark Chapter of the New
Black Panther Party.
