Dirty Gardener: The Movie Music of Spike Lee and Terence Blanchard with special guests Patti Austin, Raul Midon, and Bilal @ NJPAC

Trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard and legendary filmmaker Spike Lee come together for a night of movie music. Lee will introduce the evening, in which Blanchard will lead both his quintet and a chamber orchestra in a concert devoted to the acclaimed jazz scores and R&B-tinged songs he created for eight of Lee's features – Bamboozled, Jungle Fever, Clockers, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Inside Man, the acclaimed HBO documentary When the Levees Broke, and the current Miracle at St. Anna – all accompanied by a montage of images culled from those films. How to make the evening even cooler? Add 2008 Grammy winner Patti Austin, rising singer-guitarist Raul Midón, and neo-soul sensation Bilal as special guest vocalists. This special concert event is produced in association with Danny Kapilian.

Prior to tonight’s performance, ticket-holders are invited to join us for a free Prelude in the Prudential Hall lobby. Tonight’s Prelude will feature a Crafts Fair that will showcase a variety of tri-state area artists. The Crafts Fair will open one hour prior to the scheduled performance, and will remain open half an hour after the end of the performance
