Dirty Gardener: NAC OPEN DOORS ALERT: Volunteer for Newark Arts Parade!

Heralding Newark’s Open Doors Art Festival, The Barat Foundation and the Newark Arts Council will host the 2nd Annual Newark Arts Parade on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The parade is a celebration of the arts in Newark and The Barat Foundation’s mission of “promoting art in the public sphere through community collaboration.” The parade will feature over thirty giant modular design lightweight sculptures called “Animodules” and LIVE music provided by the Malcolm X Shabazz High School Marching Band. Expect special guest performances including gravity-defying Parkour athletes and Brazilian Caporeria dancers. The Newark Arts Parade will light up the heart of Downtown Newark, beginning at 765 Broad Street, continuing to Military Park and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and ending at 765 Broad Street. The public is invited to join in the festivities
